A domestic dispute in Cherokee County, Georgia, led to a stabbing incident Thursday afternoon, leaving two individuals injured and prompting an ongoing investigation by local authorities.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. in the parking lot of a Chick-fil-A located on Highway 92 near Interstate 75.
Deputies say the altercation involved a mother and her daughter, and both sustained injuries during the confrontation. Following the incident, the mother ran inside the restaurant, where Acworth Police officers who were already present assisted her until emergency medical services arrived. She was later transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital for treatment.
The daughter left the scene with two children in her vehicle, heading north on the interstate. Authorities were able to locate her using automated license plate reader technology, and she was stopped in Whitfield County during a felony traffic stop.
Officials confirmed that the two children in the vehicle were not injured.
Law enforcement agencies, including the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office, assisted in the response. Traffic in the area where the stop occurred was temporarily affected but has since been cleared.
The Chick-fil-A location involved in the incident was closed for the remainder of the evening.
The circumstances surrounding the dispute and the events leading up to the stabbing remain under investigation. Authorities have not yet released additional details.
