The IHC community is mourning the sudden passing of Callum Skilling, a caring and dedicated member of the camp family whose presence touched campers, staff, friends and colleagues. His death has left many heartbroken and reflecting on the lasting impact he made during seven summers at IHC. Callum devoted seven summers to the camp, building meaningful relationships with campers and fellow staff members. Over time, he became a familiar and trusted presence whose commitment extended far beyond his responsibilities.
His genuine care for others made him an important part of countless summer memories. One particularly meaningful part of Callum’s experience was spending seven summers with the same group of campers. He watched them grow each year and had the opportunity to see them through their CIT summer in 2025. The relationships he developed with those young people became a lasting part of his legacy.
The IHC community was also grateful to welcome Callum back for Alumni Day during the most recent summer. That reunion has now become a cherished memory for those who were fortunate to spend time with him. According to information shared by the IHC community, Callum died following a scuba-diving incident in Puerto Rico. The sudden nature of the reported incident has made his loss particularly difficult for those who loved and knew him.
Friends, former campers and staff members are now remembering Callum through the relationships he built, the encouragement he offered and the memories he helped create. His influence cannot be measured only by the years he spent at camp, but by the lives he touched. The IHC community has extended sympathy to Callum’s family and friends and plans to share information about ways to support the Skilling family and honor his memory. Callum will be deeply missed, but his kindness, dedication and joyful presence will remain a cherished part of the IHC community.
